Alphabet is het bedrijf achter de welbekende Google zoekmachine. Google is snel gegroeid in de ICT branche en heeft al vele bedrijven overgenomen zoals YouTube.

Google is eigenlijk niet meer uit het dagelijks leven te missen. Zo maakt iedereen wel gebruik van de zoekmachine, is het met het Android marktleider op het gebied van mobiele besturingssystemen en zijn apps zoals Google Maps en Google Translate bijna niet meer te missen.

Google Cloud (ook bekend als Google Cloud Platform) is de clouddienst van Google. Dit wordt aangeboden als platform as a service (PaaS) en infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Google is naast AWS en Azure de grootste op de markt.

Google Appsheet is een tool om binnen je organisatie zonder enige kennis van programmeren applicaties te bouwen. Dit is een vorm van no-code. In je gebouwde applicatie kun je gebruik maken van verschillende databronnen zoals Google Sheets, Excel, SQL en meer.

Google wekt nu aan een nieuw product genaamd Project IDX, een innovatief initiatief om app-ontwikkeling te transformeren. Met een webgebaseerde coderingsomgeving, snelle toegang en AI-assistentie wordt ontwikkelen vereenvoudigd. Het stelt ontwikkelaars in staat om apps op verschillende platforms te bekijken en actief feedback te verzamelen. Project IDX belooft een gestroomlijnde app-creatie en beheer.

Future of Work

Google Workspace is de nieuwe naam van wat voorheen Gsuite by Google Cloud was. Dit is cloud oplossing met hierin dezelfde tools zoals: Gmail, Docs, Meet, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Forms en Agenda. Met behulp van deze toolset, heb je alles wat je nodig hebt om te werken, waar je het maar wil hebben. Google biedt hiermee een grote toolset aan voor mensen die thuis of hybride werken.

Ook is de voorheen benoemde Project IDX relevant als toekomst van werk. Dit is een cloud oplossing om te programeren in een omgeving die draait op een super-computer. Dit houd in dat dat je op een relatief slechte laptop nog steeds zware applicaties kan ontwikkelen.

Launched in 2009, Chrome OS is based on a cloud-based operating principle, offering a light, fast and secure computing experience. The system is centred on the Google Chrome web browser, which is the central point for online activities and offers fast access to web applications. Chrome OS stands out for its ease of use, quick start-up and ability to deliver a consistent user experience, regardless of the devices used. Thanks to synchronisation with the user’s Google account, Chrome OS enables seamless transition between different devices, while automatically backing up data in the cloud.

Quantum Computing

Google heeft een ambitieus doel gesteld om tegen 2029 een quantumcomputer met 1.000.000 qubits te bouwen, wat quantum supremacy zou betekenen. Dit zou quantum computing toepassingen mogelijk maken die voor klassieke computers onhaalbaar zijn. De Quantum AI-campus dient als centrum voor onderzoek en ontwikkeling, met teams die werken aan het verbeteren van qubit-stabiliteit en het ontwikkelen van quantumalgoritmen volgens een gedetailleerde roadmap. Als dit doel wordt bereikt, kunnen quantumcomputers worden ingezet voor geavanceerde simulaties, cryptografie, optimalisatieproblemen en wetenschappelijk onderzoek, wat een revolutie kan betekenen voor diverse sectoren.

Cloud Everywhere

Google doet erg veel werk in de cloud. Van een samenwerking met NASA en Spotify tot het verbeteren van gezondheid en het behalen van winst. Verder heeft Google voor haar consumenten een persoonlijke cloud genaamd Google Drive waar het mogelijk is je documenten op te slaan of te delen met andere.

Green IT

Google heeft net als andere bedrijven een pagina over hun sustainability. Google geeft aan dat zij vanaf 2007 als bedrijf al ‘carbon neutraal‘ is en wil als bedrijf voor 2030 carbon vrij zijn. Dit wil Google bereiken door in meer dan 500 steden ruim 1 Gigaton aan CO2-uitstoot te verminderen. Door de steden te helpen met het meten en oplossingen te bieden voor het verlagen van de uitstoot van CO2. Zo maakt Google met behulp van Google Maps en A.I. de mogelijkheid voor steden om de uitstoot van transportatie binnen steden te verlagen.

Door gebruik te maken en het ontwikkelen van verschillende technologieën in de cloud, zo zijn de datacenters van Google 2x zo energie efficiënt dan de gemiddelde datacenter. Ook voor vervoer zijn er door Google nog een aantal technieken en technologieën toegepast en voor shoppen via Google Shop en zelfs voor het opzoeken op de Google zoek machine.

Artifical Intelligence (A.I.)

Google is een van de toonaangevende bedrijven op het gebied van kunstmatige intelligentie (AI). Het bedrijf heeft een lange geschiedenis van innovatie in AI, en in de afgelopen jaren heeft Google AI een steeds grotere rol gespeeld in de producten en diensten van Google.

Google heeft als visie om AI beschikbaar te maken voor iedereen. Het bedrijf gelooft dat AI een krachtig instrument kan zijn voor het verbeteren van het leven van mensen, en het is toegewijd aan het ontwikkelen van AI-technologieën die veilig, betrouwbaar en toegankelijk zijn voor iedereen.

Google AI wordt op veel verschillende manieren al toegepast. Enkele voorbeelden zijn:

  • Google Translate: Google Translate gebruikt AI om tekst te vertalen tussen meer dan 100 talen.
  • Google Foto’s: Google Foto’s gebruikt AI om gezichten te herkennen en foto’s automatisch te sorteren.
  • Google Assistant: Google Assistant gebruikt AI om gebruikers te helpen met hun dagelijkse taken, zoals het stellen van timers en het instellen van herinneringen.
  • Google Bard: Google Bard is een conversatie-AI-tool van Google die wordt aangedreven door PaLM 2. Bard kan worden gebruikt om te brainstormen over ideeën, creativiteit te stimuleren en productiviteit te versnellen.
  • Google Cloud AI: Google Cloud AI biedt een reeks AI-services die bedrijven kunnen gebruiken om hun eigen AI-toepassingen te ontwikkelen.

But that’s nothing compared to Google’s new presentation!

Google recently launched Gemini, its new artificial intelligence model, developed by its DeepMind division. Billed as the company’s “biggest and best”, Gemini 1.0 is a multimodal model capable of understanding and combining different types of information, including text, code, audio, image and video. It is available in three versions for a variety of uses, from solving complex tasks to scaling and embedded applications. Gemini excels at processing text, image and audio simultaneously, providing detailed answers to complex subjects such as physics or mathematics. It can also generate and interpret code in multiple languages, making it a leading base model for global coding. In terms of performance, the Ultra version of Gemini outperformed human experts in MMLU tests, even outperforming OpenAI’s GPT-4 in various domains, demonstrating its excellence in text interpretation and multimodal modelling.

Google heeft een spraakassistent. Het is beschikbaar op een breed scala aan apparaten, waaronder smartphones, tablets, slimme speakers en slimme displays. Naamherkomst
De naam “Google” is eigenlijk een speelse woordspeling op het woord “googol”, dat verwijst naar het getal 1 gevolgd door 100 nullen. Dit weerspiegelt de enorme hoeveelheid informatie die Google tracht te indexeren.

20% Tijd
Google heeft een beleid gehad dat bekendstaat als “20% tijd,” waarbij werknemers 20% van hun werktijd mogen besteden aan projecten buiten hun normale taken. Dit heeft geleid tot de ontwikkeling van populaire producten zoals Gmail en Google News.

Alphabet
